FAQs: Gebosun® PLC Smart Street Light Solution

What is a PLC Smart Street Light Solution and how does it work?
PLC stands for Power Line Communication. The Gebosun® PLC Solution allows street lights to communicate with a centralized controller using existing power cables. It transmits data signals over the AC power lines, eliminating the need for separate data wiring. This makes it an ideal, cost-effective solution for upgrading traditional street lights to a smart lighting system.

What is the maximum transmission distance for the PLC signal?
The Gebosun® PLC system is designed for long-range reliability. It supports a point-to-point transmission distance of up to 500 meters. Additionally, the terminal controllers have an automatic relay function, extending the effective radius coverage up to 2 kilometers, ensuring stable communication even in large projects.

Is the PLC controller compatible with LED street lights from other brands?
Yes. Our PLC Single Lamp (BS-816M) and Dual Lamp (BS-PLC822) controllers utilize standard NEMA interfaces (or optional wiring) and support standard 0-10V and PWM dimming protocols. They are compatible with most LED, High-Pressure Sodium (HPS), and Ceramic Metal Halide drivers on the market.

Can I control the lights remotely using a computer?
Absolutely. The system connects to our SCCS (Smart City Control System) via 4G, GPRS, or Ethernet. You can access the platform via a computer or mobile device to perform real-time dimming, set timing schedules (e.g., sunrise/sunset modes), view energy reports, and receive instant fault alarms on a GIS map interface.
